The Song of Dermot and the earl, is I think, one of the few extant medieval Irish texts written in Anglo Norman Medieval French (plus four words of Latin and one Irish). Obviously for trad heads it's ostensibly written from the wrong side of the fence, but to me, that's what sparks my curiosity. From the first verse, you can pick out some words, and the rhyming couplets without too much difficulty. A definitive translation and commentary was made by G.H. Orpen, and is available from four courts press
